Advice for people with slow connection

If you just like me sit on a very slow connection here are a few simple tips to speed up your clicking.

These few simple steps only apply if you use Firefox.

1.Go to TOOLS in the menu bar. In the drop down menu pick options. In options remove the tick in "load images automatically". This will prevent all pictures from loading which makes everything go a lot smoother.

2.On some pages when you login you need to enter a security code. You will not be able to see this when Firefox is setup to not load images. Therefore go to the menu again, click options, then click exceptions to the right of "load images automatically". A new window will open up and you will now be able to copy/paste the sites login page address into the box that says "Address of website". After you have done that click the button that says Allow. Reload the page and the image/security code is visible.

An alternative would be to save your login and password when you login the first time. But I know that some people do not like doing so for some reason.

3.Download an Add-on for Firefox called Flash Block. This will prevent flash from loading as well which really decreases loading time of the page.

4.Sometimes the counter will not start even though the page is fully loaded on my connection so to get around that I just press the "Stop loading this page" button(BIG RED X) and the counter will appear. Easy as...

Hope this will be useful to you guys out there that like me sit on a crappy connection.

Some very good tips Nick. I remember a few years back I lived in a very rural area and the only option was .....DIAL UP !!!! It was horrible, everything took forever. Thankfully the world found us and we could get broad band

This will get you deleted on some sites. Many sites are paying you to view the ads. That includes the images that go with them. PTC sections on many sites that is all they are is images and it is considered cheating the advertisers to only view the alt tags. Many banners and websites for that fact have images to convey a certain message. Using ad blockers, turning off images in an industry that is paid to read is kind of an oxymoron.

I haven't heard of this tip before. Further it is important to make sure that not many applications are running in your system resulting in a very low system speed as the RAM space will be over extended.
