I have heard of some including the ones that wordpress offers. You can schedule your articles so it posts automatically on the day and time you want. I really have never used it.
Auto blogs can get trashed by google as jim says, it happens but not all the time. You must always put unique content with your autoblogs - syndicating content (rss feeds etc) doesn't seem to be much of a problem but i've found using wprobot to be counter-productive as matt cutts has a video where he actually goes through sites and makes recommendations, one was a wprobot site and he said something like 'this is the sort of site our spam team sees all the time and we frown down on this sort of thing as it is not really helpful to our users'
The same goes for all those folk out there spinning your articles, what a complete waste of time - Google knows that you are spinning, they are not stupid. What passes copyscape will probably not pass google.
Do as jim says and only use unique content, if you have to copy your content, copy it in its entirety with a link back to the original.
Opinion.....
The folks that depend of Google for most of their business and continue to use auto "whatever" are working against a company that has a lot of money and a room full of brains...
The G goal is to keep happy users and I do not believe that marketers are very high on the list....
