Default How to Start an Online Small Business

Starting a small business is an exciting and invigorating activity that can lead to great success and prosperity - just ask the founders of most any small business.

There's certainly no guarantee that your small business will raise to the levels of Microsoft or You Tube, both of which started as a small business before obtaining mind staggering success. Here are the starting steps to beginning an online small business.

1. Harvest a small business idea. To begin with, in order to start an online small business, you must have a good concept, product or service, and good content. Your small business considerations should include:
1. Drop shipping
2. Importing
3. Joint venturing
4. Selling on eBay
5. E-tailing
6. Internet marketing
7. Information marketing
8. Niche marketing
9. Find other small business owners. Those new to small business need a support group. Other people that you can bounce ideas off and offer your own ideas to. Find people that have been at it awhile and can help you avoid pitfalls they have learned from. Owning your own small business can be very rewarding but there is no reason to go it alone.

Hi there,

Some good information there. Niche Marketing is great. Something I will say is if your selling your own product or becoming an affiliate, get yourself a squeeze page! A squeeze page is something every top marketer/affiliate has.

If it';s a service your providing, depending on what the service is a squeeze page could also be the way to go.

Hope this helps,

Ashley

Starting and operating an Internet business is surprisingly similar to operating any other business. Good business practices, like building the confidence of customers through truthful advertising, providing products and services at a fair price, and developing long-term business relationships, are as applicable to Internet businesses as they are to any other businesses.

Hi Ashley,

What is exactly a squeeze page and how does it work?

the most important skill you can learn, no matter what business you’re starting, is marketing.

These are great tips. Some of these I wish I would have heeded when I started my own blog. I learned the hard way with some of the above points but once I nailed them down and got clear on what I wanted and how to do it, my blog has fared much better.
